Zanzibar travels from 2019 to 2024.
Kuza Cave - Kibigija
Kuza Cave explorations during the 2019 Creative Retreat and our last 2020 travel before the global pandemic. During our Kuza Cave residency, we learned about the caves formation over 2000 years ago. It's past uses as well as the archaeological findings from the caves.
At arrival, we were welcome by a great stuff who made us feel at home during our stay. S/o to Ziwi and Dani.
After several visits later, we arrive in March 2020 in the middle of the then announced Corona virus (covid19) from an epidemic to a global pandemic. We still joke about it sometimes that being at Kuza Cave at the time of social distancing was the best place to be.
Kuza Cave is 500 meters away from the main high way heading south of Zanzibar. We were isolated but felt at home with each other. It is a place that always makes me feel at home and relaxed.
We spent a good week at Kuza Cave, living off the grid and exploring the caves before the virus situation got serious.
Our experience living off the grid at Kuza Cave was wonderful. We had the Triangle Banda House; one bedroom, bathroom and toilet situation with a really nice porch that sometimes we hangout. The whole Kuza Cave bandas are solar powered with running water.
Our time at Kuza Cave went too fast but we were thankful our bodies and mind were refreshed and ready to tackle this social distancing thing.
